There are moments in life that change everything. For me, one of these moments was the decision to put my passion for gin into action and start my own brand. The journey began in Berlin, but led me on an adventure trip to Mallorca to Gin Eva, which not only gave me new inspiration, but also marked the beginning of my podcast "The Gin High Tea".

Even as a child, I was fascinated by my grandparents' stories about faraway countries and exotic flavors. Over the years, this fascination developed into a passion for gin, a drink that for me perfectly reflects this diversity and depth. When I finally decided to start my own gin brand, UNKNOWN Lands, I knew I needed to learn more about the art of distilling. What better way to do this than to visit one of the most renowned gin producers on one of the most beautiful islands in Europe?

One sunny morning, I boarded the plane to Mallorca with nothing but curiosity and anticipation in my luggage. My destination was the small but remarkable manufactory Casa Eva, known for its award-winning gin Eva. Stefan, a former winemaker from the Palatinate, and his partner Eva had managed to capture the essence of Mallorca in every bottle of their gin.

When I arrived at Casa Eva, I was immediately taken in by the warmth and hospitality of Stefan and Eva. Stefan told me about his journey from winemaker to gin distiller and how he came up with the idea of creating Gin Eva in 2008. As he spoke, I could feel the passion that resonated in his every word.

We spent the day touring the distillery, smelling the botanicals and, of course, tasting the gin. The air was filled with the scents of fresh citrus and spicy juniper berries. Stefan explained to me his method of distilling each ingredient individually to preserve the best characteristics of each ingredient. This care and dedication was evident in every sip of Gin Eva.

The enthusiasm and knowledge I gathered that day inspired me to start my own podcast. "The Gin High Tea" was to be a space where gin makers could share their stories and celebrate the art of gin making. I dedicated the first episode to Stefan and Eva, their incredible gin and the magic of Mallorca that is in every bottle.
